Solution looking for a problem

This is a hell of a headline:

‘Business spending on AI surged 500% this year to $13.8 billion, says Menlo Ventures‘

That’s a ridiculous amount of cash, somebody is making money. But is the return for the people spending the cash? It does not say.

I mean there’s a fundamental rule in life - save or earn more than you spend. But that aspect is still missing from coverage.

But there’s a shift. I’m going to be deliberately cruel about this, but if your grift isn’t working you have to shift the marketing. Now it’s chatbots and agents

Marissa Mayer just laid out a possible business model for ad-supported AI chatbots | TechCrunch
Marissa Mayer has a lot of insights into the promise and problems with online advertising. She played an instrumental role in the early days of Google

And as we see it’s the tried and tested - advertising. Tech no longer looks to provide solutions to problems for people. Nor do they sell to people. They sell to VCs and the Markets and the ultimate product is always advertising.
